Order in the Cabinets!

31 Days of Order - Day 6

Good Saturday, Everyone!

Today I only have a little bit of time to be online, because I'm busy tidying up the place for the company we are looking forward to having Sunday afternoon. My bi-monthly small group and their families are coming over for a pot luck dinner, outside games, and a bonfire with s'mores.

So, here are a few pictures of simple projects I have pinned that are on the to do list for the month. We are calling it....
ORDER IN THE CABINETS!

Starting in the kitchen, I love this idea for bringing some order to the pots and pans.
I desperately need to do this and am sparing you the messy picture of my own pan stacks.

In the bathroom, I like this clever idea of using a magazine holder
to contain the hair dryer, straightener, and curling iron.

Last but certainly not least, peel and stick tile under the sinks!
Aaaaahhhhh yes! I'm doin' it!

I hope you have a wonderfully blessed weekend!

That Darned Litter Box

31 Days of Order - Day 5

Okay - you're either going to crack up laughing or be totally grossed out by this one. (How's that for an intro?)

An issue that has bothered me from day 1 is where I have to put the litter box in this house. There is no basement and no attached garage for our indoor kitties to take care of business. The litter box sits in the laundry room, which in most cases wouldn't be so bad except that our laundry room is right off the kitchen. Rrrrrrr. I have changed litter a few times and finally settled on a particular brand that takes care of the smell very well as long as the box is kept clean.

But, I still have to look at it! I don't like looking at it!

Here it is in all it's glory....

One morning I was minding my own business, checking my email as usual and clicked on the message from Groupon. Up pops a whopping discount on an item that promises to make my house litter free in a month or less! Of course, I clicked over to see the details and checked the product website. I started feeling giddy inside and couldn't help chuckling while remembering scenes from the movie, "Meet the Parents."

After consulting the children who happened to be looking over my shoulder at the computer screen, I did it. I bought the kit.

Litter box. Your days are numbered.

Cat re-training starts Monday. I will definitely keep you up to date!

In the event this doesn't work, I have a plan B. Remember the little cabinet under the sink? The litter box will go in there. I could use the floor space and it would keep the box out of sight.

I found some creative cat box cubbies online in case I decide to go that route instead.

Ummmm - maybe I'll just take this whole laundry room instead....

What's the craziest thing you've ever done to bring order to an area of your home that really bothered you? What do you think about the "litter free" home idea? Think it'll work? Have you or someone you know tried it? How did it go? Leave your comments please!!!

This post is not a product endorsement. I was not paid or given anything in return for mentioning the product. I simply saw something that amused me and I thought I'd give it a try.

Illuminating Blogger Award and Bathroom Update

I want to thank CJ from Food Stories Blog
for nominating me for their Illuminating Blogger Award
because of my illuminating, informative blog content!!

According to the rules I am now supposed to share with you one random thing about myself,
so here goes....one random thing....ummm, well....

Whenever I am asked to name one random thing,
I can't think of anything and always have to ask a friend.
So, my friends, you may comment, but please be nice. :-)

I am also supposed to nominate five other blogs for the
Illuminating Blogger Award.
Here is my list.
Please visit each of these blogs. Look around. Leave an encouraging comment.

And now, the promised Bathroom Update!

You may (or may not) recall that our downstairs bathroom started out as an
awkwardly, large space that opened directly off the front door.
Brian enclosed the bath, made room for a foyer and a closet.

I had intended to get the bathroom painted before the girls' graduation party,
but that didn't happen.

Last week I tackled it while Silas was at camp, since he is the one who uses it most.
This cool shower curtain came from Target. I LOVE Target's selection of shower curtains!

The paint is Furry Ottertail from Color Place, however I used Walmart's Better Homes and Garden's line of interior premium paint in the eggshell/satin finish.

The little cabinet will get a paint job before reattaching it to the wall behind the toilet.
I'm not too fond of the brown on brown we have going here,
so the plan is to experiment with the chalk paint I've heard much about.

Another issue I'm still trying to decide on is the white cabinet. To paint or not to paint?
The creamy sink top looks funny to me over the white vanity.
What were the previous owners thinking?!?
I'm toying with the idea of using the same blue from the shower curtain.
Or a really dark brown....or something else. I don't know yet.
What do you think?

Don't forget to visit my blogging friends and
thank you for stopping by today at
